Pat Sharp

Ever wish you could have your own private headhunter to guide you through the corporate jungle? Someone who knows the tricks about getting noticed and career development, in the right way? Pat Sharp has done it for others. She can do it for you. Whether you want a corner office, or a peaceful cube, she can help you cut through office politics and make work meaningful and fun.

Pat combines decades of experience as an advisor to executives with non-profits, start-ups, and Fortune 500s with her inside secrets as a corporate headhunter together in The Corner Office Guide™, a five session self-directed course, to help you shape your career trajectory.

Why I created this program:  My first “real” job was as a headhunter placing sales professionals at companies like Prentice-Hall and Proctor and Gamble. I had no business experience. My experience consisted of a few years of college (voice performance major) and several years of part-time work for Avon, Tupperware, and Rubbermaid’s Party Plan, none of which prepared me to interview and recommend top notch sales talent to experienced business leaders!

I was the youngest person in the office—the only woman. To the surprise of my peers (my first day on the job, I was told “no one will listen to a woman”), I was wildly successful. I was really good at matching people with positions, but, sometimes, I found myself working with someone trying to reenter the workforce, or who had been fired or laid off, or who was “overqualified” for a particular position.

Over the years, as I developed my search practice, I would counsel people for coffee or lunch. Then, in 2009, I started a career coaching practice (Career Catalyst℠) and gave some classes and workshops. I wasn’t in it for the money. I wanted to find a way to help people reach their full potential, and leverage all the secrets I’ve learned from decades working in staffing, executive search, and human resources.

The ratio of people I interviewed vs. the percentage I was able to place was enormous. There were great people who could have “done the job” but I couldn’t get them interviewed because they didn’t “meet the spec.” I made lots of money, but was conflicted because there were so many I couldn’t help. So, I found myself advising people about career development, for free.

You Have Options.

Pat's Career Coaching works...

Randy Bias, VP of Technology, EMC

“Pat Sharp was engaged as adviser to Cloudscaling. Her efforts were foundational in creating an A+ team, which eventually led to a successful acquisition by EMC. She brought proven methodologies, assessing my personal leadership style, competencies, and making recommendations that complemented my strengths. I found her to be both practical and strategic in her advice, communicating clearly and with good business sense. I would engage her again and strongly recommend her as a resource.”

Christopher Gray, CPC, Thinking Ahead

“Pat was a real difference-maker in my career. She took me from transition to a challenging job I already love. She was able to look at my resume and point me in the right direction. Moreover, she met with me several times and provided incredible value with her insight, experience, and network. Finally, she connected me to a decison-maker at my current company, and got me a phone call, which led to my first interview. Many people claim to be agents of change, but Pat lives it. Her network is without equal.”

Invest in Yourself

It’s never too late to learn something new, to become more fit, to spend time with a friend,
until we find our time has run out. Today, and every day, take time to make one small investment
in the most important person in your life: you.” Pat Sharp

What others are think of my solutions!

“Pat is a master strategist. I was having a problem finalizing a deal with a prospect. She quickly zeroed in on the issue and coached me on what to say. The next morning I received an email from the prospect agreeing to my terms and wanting to take action. I’ve gone from inertial frustration to momentum. She’s truly the Chief Problem Solver.”

Diane DiResta,
DiResta Communications, Inc.

“Pat brings years of solid business experience, accompanied by a passion for getting the big picture right first. With overarching goals clear and the mission in mind, Pat dives into the details, making sure that plans include the level of action and confirmation required to achieve the mission.”
